These are ranges, not deadlines. Every baby is different. Use these figures as a general guide, not a strict target — healthy babies vary widely. When in doubt, follow your baby's cues and talk to your pediatrician.

Total sleep includes both night sleep and daytime naps. Wake window = the amount of awake time between sleeps; it naturally lengthens across the day, so the last wake window before bedtime is usually the longest.
These are age averages — your baby has their own. NapNap learns their real wake windows as you log and tells you when the next nap and bedtime are due.

Reading the ranges
Total sleep is how much your baby sleeps across a full 24 hours. Night sleep is the longest overnight stretch (including brief wakings). Naps is the typical number of daytime sleeps, which gradually drops as your baby grows — see nap transitions for when each drop usually happens. Wake windows tend to start short in the morning and grow longer toward bedtime.
If you want to see how these numbers turn into an actual day, the sample sleep schedules by age lay out nap and bedtime clocks month by month. If your baby is hitting these totals but waking constantly at night, the 4 month sleep regression and sleep training guides are the next places to look.
NapNap Baby compares your baby's actual sleep to these age-appropriate ranges and gives personalized nap and bedtime predictions as you log.
